Tori and Daniel’s love story began through mutual friends, with the pair spending time together in the same friendship group before their relationship naturally blossomed. While they may not remember the exact moment they first met, they both knew they had found something special.

Daniel chose a place filled with personal meaning to propose—a favourite lookout on farmland where he had been hunting since childhood. Overlooking their hometown after a peaceful bush walk, he asked Tori to marry him.

For Tori, choosing Fiji as their wedding destination was an easy decision. Having always felt completely at home whenever she visited, there was nowhere else that felt more right for such an important occasion. They chose Plantation Island Resort, drawn to its beautiful beaches, warm Fijian hospitality, and family-friendly atmosphere, making it the perfect place to celebrate with their two-year-old son by their side.

We catch up with Bride Tori on planning their wedding in Fiji:

The Planning

Planning our Fiji wedding was surprisingly easy. As a travel agent, I already knew Plantation Island Resort and Fiji well after visiting many times, so I felt confident from the start. Our vision was to create something intimate, relaxed, and stress-free, and that’s exactly what we achieved.

The resort’s wedding coordinators were absolutely phenomenal and made the entire process feel effortless. I also used Bula Bride for inspiration, especially to see other couples’ weddings and styling ideas. Overall, the whole experience was so seamless that it felt more like planning a holiday than a wedding.

I wanted everything about our ceremony to feel relaxed and true to us. Totoka Hair & Beauty at Plantation Island Resort looked after my hair and makeup, and I chose a Bec + Bridge dress because it was light, comfortable, and perfect for the Fiji heat.

The Ceremony

We exchanged our vows on the beach, exactly as I had always imagined, with white sand and crystal-clear water as the backdrop. Plantation Island Resort took care of all the ceremony styling, flowers, and bouquets, keeping everything beautifully simple. We wrote our own vows so the ceremony felt personal and reflected who we are as a couple, and one of the highlights was having a traditional Fijian meke performance, which made the day feel even more special.

The Photography

We chose Nadi Bay Photography because we absolutely loved their photography style and the way they captured genuine moments throughout the day. We were looking for photos that felt casual, happy, and relaxed, and they delivered exactly that.

We honestly couldn’t be happier with our wedding photos. From the angles to the editing, everything was perfect, and they’re something we’ll cherish for the rest of our lives.

The Reception

Our reception was held at the Wedding Bure, which gave us the perfect balance of privacy while still enjoying a beautiful beachside atmosphere. Plantation Island Resort took care of all the styling, and we loved the relaxed setup they created for us.

We enjoyed a delicious selection of meats, fresh salads, breads, desserts, and both alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks, followed by a simple yet elegant white wedding cake made by the resort. We created our own playlist for the evening, which made the celebration feel even more personal.

At the end of the night, we took our son back to our room and spent some quiet time together reflecting on such an incredible day. It might not be the traditional way to end a wedding, but for us, it was absolutely perfect.

We spent 5 days in Fiji before the wedding and 8 days after. Doing it this way was a dream! It meant we could get everything sorted prior to that we needed in Fiji, and then after the wedding day it was a holiday/honeymoon all in one.

Tips & Highlights

Looking back, it’s hard to pick just one favourite moment because the entire day felt perfect. We started the morning with a swim at the beach, enjoyed breakfast together, and then got ready at a relaxed pace before our beautiful beachfront ceremony. Everything flowed so effortlessly—from the ceremony and photos through to the reception—and it was exactly the laid-back celebration we had hoped for.

My biggest piece of advice for anyone planning a Fiji wedding is to trust the process. Getting married in Fiji really is much simpler and more straightforward than you might expect. And one practical tip—hang your wedding dress outside before you get ready. The tropical warmth works wonders on any travel creases!
