Your guide to a Fiji Highlands photo session

The Highlands overlooking Nadi and the beautiful Nadi Bay is not for the faint hearted, but the allure of the incredible images you’ll capture there makes the adventure so worthwhile.

Your journey there involves driving on narrow and winding roads up to the highest point which photographers Nadi Bay Photography have named ‘Table Mountain’. From there your photo session will begin and the magic starts to happen.

The time of year, time of day, the weather, cloud cover, smoke in the air … so many variables really change the feel, tone and colours in the images so it’s a unique space each time and they never fully know what they’re going to get! This makes the Highlands one of their favourite places to work in as no two sessions are the same.

This looks like an incredible location! Where is it?

The location is the Highlands which overlook the beautiful Nadi Bay (where we get our name!) and involves driving up winding gravel logging roads to the highest point which we’ve named ‘Table Mountain’ as it’s got a flat top. We take couples there ourselves and will arrange to pick you up, it’s around an hour round trip from most of the Nadi or Denarau hotels.

Do you offer honeymoon or photoshoot bookings separately to the traditional wedding booking?

Yes we offer portrait sessions as well, they can be for any occasion really! Celebrate You in a beautiful location, why not! We offer sessions for individuals and couples alike, for honeymoons, anniversaries and more. If you’d like something by the beach or up in the mountains we can take you there and include transport pick up and drop off service to/from areas in the Nadi/Denarau area for the Highlands Session or Coral Coast area pick up for a Natadola Beach session. Prices start from around FJ$1,100 and we can provide a more specific quote per session needs.

What does a typical honeymoon/photoshoot package look like?

We try to create packages around what each couple is looking for, we do include pick up and drop off service to/from your resort where possible, water for the trip, and you’re welcome to bring along your bubbly if you like! For a Highlands session travel time is around an hour or so round trip if you’re based in the Nadi area. Once we get up there the session will go from 1 to 2 hours usually.

What prep should the bride and groom do beforehand?

The walkable terrain and roads up there changes throughout the year, but always bring shoes you can hike comfortably in and maybe another pair for photos, a change of outfit if you wish, and a backpack you can put everything into. No two sessions are the same, we drive up there, explore where it looks good/accessible at the time and go for it! If you have a strong fear of heights this may not be the session for you. The drive up is scenic and we pass by sugar cane farming communities, a side of Fiji most may not have the opportunity to see while in the country.

Is there anything in particular couples should think about to get the best from this location?

An adventurous spirit! Clothing colour palettes between the couple and flow in clothing can do a lot to bring that extra vibe to your photographs, as well as any props or accessories you’d want to include like a sun hat, a flowy scarf etc. Great hair and makeup is also important!
