Elopement | Kelly & Jarmen | Malamala Beach Club

Kelly and Jarmen connected on Tinder and immediately clicked. They decided to forego a formal engagement and proceeded directly to marriage, as they had already planned a holiday in Fiji and thought it was the perfect opportunity to wed.

Kelly was never keen on a conventional wedding; she had always envisioned eloping to a tropical island. The laid-back allure of Fiji made it the ideal choice for their intimate paradise wedding.

We catch up with Bride Kelly on planning her elopement in Fiji:

Eloping was always in the plans for us; we both have a passion for exploring and traveling to new places, so incorporating that into our wedding was incredibly exciting. We adore the sun and sand, making a tropical beach wedding the ideal choice for us.

Bula Bride was immensely helpful; having all the information consolidated in one place was a significant aid, as there were many different sources online which could be quite overwhelming. I utilized vendors recommended on the website.

We chose Malamala Beach Club after extensive research. The moment we laid eyes on Malamala, we knew it was the perfect spot. Its natural beauty and the turquoise waters captivated us, and we immediately knew it would be the perfect setting for an intimate elopement.

As we had already booked to come on holiday, the most difficult was booking a venue in short notice that was available while we were here. Once we had locked in Malamala as a venue it was fairly straight forward, I did lots of research so I didn’t miss anything important and the staff at Malamala were also a big help as they took care of most things for us.

Our Ceremony

Before the event, Tokoka hair and makeup arrived to style my hair and makeup. With limited time available, their efficient assistance ensured we could enjoy our time at Malamala to the fullest. Meanwhile, Jarmen relaxed on the beach with a beer.

Our ceremony was an intimate and romantic affair by the beachfront, thoughtfully arranged by the Malamala staff. Usaia Np Weddings, our celebrant, provided the floral archway and bouquets, adding to the beauty of the setting.

The ceremony was simple yet filled with love and laughter. Sharing the vows we wrote for each other was incredibly special, making the moment truly ours.

We aimed for an intimate tropical beach elopement, and that’s precisely what we experienced. As laid-back individuals, our priority was to have a stress-free and wonderful day, focusing solely on each other, and it was exactly as we envisioned—utterly stress-free and magical.

Getting photos

We choose Nadi Bay Photography, they had so many positive reviews and their package fitted well with what we wanted. As we were only on Malamala for 6 hours we wanted to maximize our time there and didn’t want to spend hours getting photos. From the first contact with them they were highly responsive and helped with any questions I had

We are absolutely in love with our elopement photos!! We can’t stop looking at them! Lita did an amazing job at capturing our special day and made us feel so comfortable in front of the camera. Communication from Elanie was also amazing, very efficient and clear.

Timing wise, we booked 2Hrs photography the ‘Instant’ package: from 11.30am prep / 12noon ceremony / portraits ended 1.30pm.

After the ceremony

We had a grand cabana overlooking the beach and we spent most of the day there, we had a delicious lunch and plenty of cocktails! We also explored Malamala and spent some time in the pool and the crystal-clear water of the ocean.

At the end of the day once we were back at Denarau, we had a 2-hour drive back to our resort; it was a big day, so we were quite exhausted by the end of it. However, once we got back to our resort, we carried on the celebrations there.

Overall highlights

Marrying my best friend in the most stunning location was the highlight; we’ve always dreamed of eloping, and having done it, we’d recommend it to anyone considering it! The Malamala staff were exceptional, ensuring we were well cared for—they truly made our day special. Likewise, all our other vendors were outstanding.

Advice for other Brides:

Go with the flow, embrace island time and the natural beauty Fiji has to offer. Plan ahead and trust that everything will be amazing.

I became a member of numerous Facebook groups for Fiji brides and gathered a wealth of information. Bula Bride’s website proved to be an incredible resource, consolidating everything in one location, which was particularly useful for comprehending the legal requirements amidst the various information available online. I also thoroughly researched reviews and photos before selecting our vendors.
