Initial Planning
Nowhere in New Zealand ever felt quite right for us. Last year, we took another family holiday, this time to Fiji, and it turned out to be an unforgettable experience. My now-husband kept saying over and over that we should get married there. By the end of the trip, I realized he was absolutely right. As soon as we got home, we started exploring our options.
During our time in Fiji, we felt so in love, happy, and completely relaxed. That atmosphere felt perfect for a wedding. My husband has a deep love for the sea, and I adore tropical plants—together, the setting created the perfect backdrop for our special day.
We reached out to Jaimee from House of Travel in Kapiti, who was fantastic in helping us connect with multiple resorts, gather quotes, and explore different packages. After considering everything, we chose

Getting Ready
I had the lovely Veni from Totoka Hair and Beauty Fiji, and she was amazing! As a hairdresser myself, I was a little nervous, but after our trial, I knew Veni was the perfect choice. She did an incredible job making me feel beautiful. The resort also had an on-site salon, Balance Fiji, where my bridesmaids and the mothers of the bride and groom had their hair and makeup done. They all looked stunning, and we couldn’t have been happier with our choice.
My dress was from Grace Loves Lace Australia. I’ve always loved their style, and it felt perfect for the relaxed, island vibe. The bridesmaids' dresses were from Evolution Bridesmaids in New Zealand, and we were thrilled with how stunning they looked—the color tones were absolutely gorgeous. The groom’s suit was from Tarocash, a fantastic store in New Zealand, and the only place that had the ideal color I envisioned.

The Ceremony
Our ceremony was held in the chapel, which was the perfect location with its breathtaking floor-to-ceiling glass windows overlooking the ocean. It was a stunning setting, offering a refreshing escape from the heat and breeze with the comfort of air conditioning.
Melina from Shangri-La sent me options for the décor, and she and her team executed the setup beautifully on the day. We chose a very natural style, incorporating mostly white and green tones with subtle hints of blush pink, all inspired by the resort's gorgeous surroundings.
The resort provided the florist for our flowers. I shared the color tones I wanted, and they delivered the bouquets to our room an hour before the ceremony—they were absolutely beautiful, and we were thrilled with them. We wrote our own vows, which made the ceremony deeply personal and special. It was relaxed, simple, and truly meaningful. Our celebrant, Usaih, was fantastic—he had such a warm presence and spoke so beautifully, making the day even more memorable."

The Photography
We were incredibly fortunate to have a close friend, Lisa, who happens to be an amazing photographer, attending our wedding as a guest. Knowing her made us feel much more at ease, especially since we’re not the most natural in front of a camera. She did the most stunning job capturing our day.
We wanted our photos to feel relaxed and effortless, without being overly posed, and she delivered exactly that. We absolutely LOVE our photos—they are everything we envisioned and more. We couldn’t be happier with how beautifully she documented our special day!"

The Reception
We kept the style very natural with white and green tones, creating a timeless and elegant setting. The food was absolutely divine—a fantastic assortment of options that were all delicious and beautifully presented. The desserts were not only a treat for the taste buds but also visually stunning. The beverage package was excellent, covering most preferences, and for anything not included, guests could easily purchase it at the bar. It was such a well-thought-out setup. The resort's chef made our cake—a scrumptious vanilla cake with buttercream icing that everyone loved.
We chose
DJ Works Fiji, and they were phenomenal. They truly knew how to set the mood, read the crowd, and keep the energy just right. Their timing with the music was spot-on, making the evening flow seamlessly. The addition of cold sparks and the dancefloor was the perfect touch, creating a fun and unforgettable atmosphere. Afterward, we continued the celebrations at the resort's Black Marlin Bar, where live music and good vibes carried us through to midnight. It was the perfect way to cap off an incredible day!"

The Holiday
We spent a total of 10 days in Fiji, which was the perfect amount of time to relax, finalize wedding details, and enjoy quality time with our guests.
Some of our guests visited the market in Sigatoka, immersing themselves in the local culture and picking up unique souvenirs. A smaller group of us decided to get matching tattoos at Packo's, the local tattoo artist. He was amazing, and we all got a beautiful lotus flower design as a special keepsake.
During our stay, we also supported local artisans. We purchased stunning handmade jewelry from the local ladies at the resort, and my mother-in-law surprised us with a beautiful wooden wall hanging carved with our names and wedding date by a talented craftsman working at the resort. These moments and mementos made our time in Fiji even more memorable!
Advice for future brides:
If you use any of the vendors I did, your day will go beautifully.
