Elle & Andrew

There’s no doubt about it – Musket Cove is a simply stunning wedding location. With all the benefits of an island wedding (think relaxed, blue ocean, white sand) it also has the convenience of being less than an hour away from the mainland and is exceptionally scenic. Here, we catch up with Fiji Bride Elle on how she went about planning her Musket Cove wedding.

We met in 2010 on site at work, I was the ‘bar chick’ and he was a HD fitter. I ended up getting an apprenticeship and we ended up being on the same team. It all started over a romantic 6 pack of coronas (lol)!

We had taken many trips over to Fiji to scope out the sites and make sure that we were making the right decision. I am so glad we did, because some of the sites didn’t look like the web pictures at all. The resort we absolutely fell in love with was Musket Cove Island Resort. We felt we just didn’t get the same service and authentic experience on the mainland and the staff at Musket Cove were beyond amazing and incredibly flexible.

Gloria and her team made it an absolute fairy-tale wedding!!! Wedding packages at Musket Cove are so stress free everything is done already and you can build on it or just leave it as the standard wedding package.

To help with my planning, I found Dee at I Do Fiji Weddings and she went above and beyond. There was a particular incident that she bent backwards to help get cleared up. There were so many times it could have gone sideways, but it didn’t, because Dee was there with back ups and back up of back ups waiting in the wings if anything were to further go wrong. The many resorts we visited were organized through Dee and that made it easy for us. She was a legend!

Our day pre-wedding was chilled. I think my sister was stressing harder than me, I had everything done and dusted by the morning, like my speech finished and platters ordered, so it was just music, mimosas and makeup and hair.

We used Lodo & Ludy from Totoka Hair and Make Up, and boy were they a laugh! They were so much fun we were dancing and being nostalgic telling stories of how we met our husbands and things that happened on the others wedding days it was great because they made mum feel part of it too. With Nadi Bay Photography there also, it was a buzzing team of ‘babe making’.

What blew me away was the little hair & make up video Lodo put together for me, it was the icing on that cake!!!

My dress was a custom Elvi Design two-piece dress, comfy and non-traditional. For my Bridesmaids I asked them to get a white dress that made them feel amazing and comfortable to rock down the aisle in. One was from Florence, one was made in Vietnam and one was an ASOS dress.

The groom wore a custom King and George light weight suit and the guys wore kit from Tarocash.

We had a ‘no gift’ wedding as it was the people there were our gift, but I did get a family heirloom necklace that was worn by 4 generations of women on my mothers side, so that was a special gift!

We had our Wedding Ceremony under the trees on the beachfront. Our style of ceremony was romantic, funny and relaxed.

We didn’t really have themes other than white purple and gold, I wasn’t bothered too much as the island was the theme! Musket Cove had it covered with the package we had, so there wasn’t really much to think about. All of our flowers and bouquets were done by Musket Cove. 

We chose Nadi Bay Photography for our Photographer, because I loved their crisp styling and their feedback was great.

We were looking for unique shots and fun ones – my partner and I are most certainly not models and have some serious awkwardness about us, we like to laugh and the serious photos are just something we struggle with, but Lawrence made it reasonably easy. Absolute credit to him and the team for an incredible job. I love the fact that we went exploring and climbed and walked got all the good shots the fireworks ones were AH-mazing!!!

Our reception was at the Yacht bar, Musket Cove.

Musket Cove provided and set up the décor at the reception. I can’t even remember what was on the dinner menu but our guests raved about it for weeks! They also provided our wedding cake (Chocolate Mud) and the entertainment.
We also had traditional Fijian dancers at the wedding which were a surprise for our guests and I absolutely loved watching their reactions.

My advise is to look for package deals and extras, dont be afraid to ask about what you want. And if you see something you like, snap a shot of it and the resort will do their best to get it. Musket were so good at doing this!
