Sam & Sara
BB is back with some gorgeous real Fiji weddings for 2016. And I have a feeling that this year is going to be seeing some divine weddings.
To begin, the wedding of Sam & Sara who said I do in August 2015. A classically simple wedding done right. They decided to have their reception on a yacht! A fabulous idea for those with smaller wedding parties and those who want to do something a little different. Not to forget the view!
Frequent visitor to Fiji – photographer Kellee Walsh was there to capture it all. Sara shares with us some details of their day and most importantly her advice.
The Planning /
I am very proud to say we did all the planning ourselves. We shared the work but our advice to all couples is not to panic, remember that the Fijian culture is a little more laid back and try and adopt this culture whilst planning.
The Location / We first visited Fiji in September 2013 and fell in love with the laid back culture and friendly people. We always wanted a small wedding so we thought why not combine it with a holiday at our favourite destination with thirty of our favourite people.
The Bride wore / Rachel Gilbert with a custom made Greta Kate detachable train. I wore a headpiece, which my Grandma wore at her wearing in 1956. She was unable to travel from the UK to Fiji and it was so special for me to be able to wear this.
The Cake / Was by Taste Fiji.
The Favours / Welcome bags which contained a personalised cookie for each guest, a black and white stubby holder, a photo frame with a quote in each which we had written a note on the back of each picture, a sparkler and reception order of events.
The Highlight / Standing on the top deck and realising that we everything we had spent soo long thinking and planning was really worth it, everyone was having a great time. And walking down he aisle to see my handsome man standing in front of the most beautiful Fijian beach surrounded by palm trees.
The Advice / When planning a destination wedding you need to be prepared and excited about the fact that not everything will be exactly how you planned it.
Our original reception venue fell through. As a result we decided to have It on board Adrenalin’s yacht, Bel’ Mare. This turned out to be my favourite part of the day as it was soo unique and an amazing experience for our guests.
The staff on board were lovely and Party Hire Fiji did such an amazing job of setting it up. If things don’t go exactly how you plan, just let it go as it will still be beautiful, don’t let it ruin your day!
Lastly, I read all the Bula Bride weddings religiously to get ideas about suppliers, what you can /cannot take over to Fiji and quite frankly we could not have planned it without the help of Bula Bride!
