Firstly I must apologies to Chantelle for the long wait in having her wedding shared on Bula Bride. I get a lot of submissions through and sometime one’s that I say ‘yes’ to fall through the cracks.
I love it when Bula Bride’s share their big day with me! I get all excited to know that BB was in some way apart of your day, holding your hand, being there to inspire through the process. See your & your partners day is what keeps BB going and growing!
Chantelle & Hubby Michael had an intimate wedding of 35 on Denarau Island. Making use of the multiple facilities available, with their ceremony at the Sheraton followed by their reception at The Westin. Even though Cocopalms at The Westin doesn’t have a view it is great for privacy and also catering for larger numbers. The thatched roof’s also offer the Fiji flavour!
Chantelle share’s with us the details of their Sheraton Fiji Wedding. Wonderfully captured by Leezett Photography.
The Planning / We always new we wanted a small wedding and we both love scuba diving so Fiji was the perfect spot to plan our intimate low key wedding. Planning started about 12 months ahead. I have to admit planning a wedding in a destination we’d never seen before had its challenges, Bula Bride and the Facebook page were very helpful and in the long run it was everything we dreamed of and more.
The Hens & Bucks / We had our traditional nights out at home but in Fiji the girls indulged in a pamper afternoon at the heavenly spa, the boys went out on a fishing trip and we met up for a Mexican feast at the Wyndham resort in the evening.
The Favour / I made welcome packs with everything thing I thought my guests may need or forget including a hangover recovery kit.
The Hair & Makeup / Natural with a touch of glamour by the amazing H&M perfectionists.
The Fellas / Wore white dress shirts, grey pants and black shoes and belt, I’m glad I didn’t put them in full suits it would have been much too hot. A tip for future brides if your husband to be sweats have a couple of backup shirts for him to change into.
The Ceremony / Was held at the Sheraton beach front. Very simple and elegant with white hanging lanterns, white arbour and some lovely fresh flowers.
The Reception / Was held at the Cocopalms at the Westin. All setup elegantly by Grace Creations. Aka’s team did a great job at creating a magical space again all very white and simple with more beautiful fresh flowers.
The Cake / Was a beautifully decorated two tearedcake in ivory by Taste Fiji
The Entertainment / DJ Ranjit kept us dancing late into the night.
The Highlight / Marrying my amazing husband, our drown the gown shoot was so much fun, we pretty much had a week long wedding, with multiple dinners, daytrips, pool days and our one amazing day, I would recommend a destination wedding to anyone!
The Advice / Book your preferred suppliers as soon as you can, I was lucky to get all of my preferences but the good ones do book up quickly, they may cost a little more but they are worth it. Get used to Fiji time, it may be frustrating at times but they do get the job done in the end. If your worried follow up but don’t ask too many questions at once, and on the day relax and enjoy, hopefully you will only get married once so enjoy every minute. If things don’t quite go to plan just go with the flow, I walked down the aisle to the wrong song but it was still one of the best days of my life! Happy planning x
