They decided to get hitched on their 11th year Anniversary in November, 2015 in front of 62 of their loved ones. They chose Fiji for a fuss free day, and even better they had Hair & Makeup + Flowers and Decor sorted with thanks to suppliers Totoka Hair & Makeup and Grace Creations Fiji as part of the giveaway prize.
Brisbane photographer Holme Street Photography was there to capture their day. Sarah shares with us the details of there day.
The Planning / We knew straight away that we wanted a beach wedding and compared to the cost of an Australian wedding Fiji was a great price for a stunning location. We are a pretty casual laid back couple so didn’t over think the planning. Once the resort was chosen (the Fairytale Package) most things were sorted in our eyes.
The Hair & Makeup / Our hair and makeup was done by Leanne and Lodo at Totoka Hair and makeup. We were all so happy with our makeup. They were extremely professional, on time and we had such a fun day. They even helped to straighten our flower girls hair and give them some makeup (they loved it!).
The Bridesmaids Wore / White Runway Sienna and Darla (without cap sleeve) dresses in Coral, Samantha Wills earrings given as gifts and barefoot sandals from ebay.
The Groom and His Men Wore / Marty wore a full Ben Sherman suit, white shirt and shoes from Batsanis in Melbourne. The groomsmen wore the same Ben Sherman pants, Saba shirt, boots from Milu is brisbane and own bow ties. They also wore Rip Curl watches given to them as gifts.
The Ceremony / We had the Ceremony and reception on the beach. My goal for the day was to not have to wear shoes.
We had chairs bought over by Grace Creations. We had no other requests for the ceremony so anything else setup was by musket cove. We decided to set up the ceremony along the beach (rather than the standard down the beach). This meant that although the tide was half way out it didn’t really show in most of our photos. One of the things we loved about Musket Cove was their leaning palm tree and we managed to get that as the backdrop for our ceremony.
We wrote our own vows and so glad we did. Because you don’t meet the celebrant till the day you might not get the same personalisation as you would in Australia. Writing our own vowels and having readings made it more personal to us.
Sarah’s brother read What I Learned About Love, I Learned From My Dog (Author Unknown). It was very fitting as our dog wasn’t able to make it to Fiji with us.
We cut our cake after the ceremony and had some champagne with our guests before going for portraits. After this guests went to the island bar for a few drinks before the reception.
The Cake / We had a 2 tier wedding cake with frangipani decorations. The two tiers were chocolate mud cake and carrot cake. The cake was amazing and we ate it for a few days afterwards. We also had a birthday cake made for a friend who let us share our wedding with him.
The Flowers / We loved the tropical flowers and chose Frangipanis as our flowers for the wedding. The bride and groom flowers were provided as part of the Musket Cove package. We used our Grace Creations part of the wedding prize for the remaining flowers for bridesmaids, parents and flower crowns.
The Reception / We just had white table clothes with palm leaves and candles as table decorations. Photos of each guest were used as place cards and M & S lights in front of us were found from Spotlight. Grace Creations also provided some fairy lights which were hung up over the area. We didn’t want anything excessive as we were in FIJI.
We had a number of children attend so organised for a Kids table set up and babysitters for them. We took over some Fiji related craft toys for the kids to play with and Gloria organised kid friendly food for them. The parents were wrapped and didn’t hear a word from their kids all night.
The Entertainment / We used our own music on from our phone and the resort PA system. We created a number of Spotify playlists and used them over the night.
The Day After / We went on a recovery cruise with Making Memories Fiji. Margarita and her team were so helpful and accommodating. We spent the day cruising from Musket Cove to Cloud 9 with 30 of our guests. It was such a great day and so handy to have all the food and drinks for the day included as part of the package.
The Advice / Don’t over think it. Fiji is such a stunning place you don’t need all the extras. Be relaxed and open to any mishaps, it won’t ruin your day!
If you are getting married at Musket Cove don’t stress. Gloria and Nae are amazing! There was a wedding 5 out of 7 days we were at Musket which meant they were flat out. We spoke to them once briefly to sort out last minute details the day before the wedding and everything turned out great. They have got this wedding thing down pat so trust them.
