Last Friday I had the utter most pleasure of co-hosting with Mandi of Worldwide Weddings a little Soiree’ at the Sofitel Fiji Resort & Spa. And what a magical evening it was with 65 wedding industry professionals, GM’s and new found friends in attendance, joining in the celebration of Bula Bride’s first birthday and a successful week at the Fiji Tourism Exchange.
What was ment to be a small cocktail function to thank those who have supported the blog within its first year, quickly grew to something that was beyond my wildest dreams. Louise & Selai from Sofitel were on board with hosting the evening, and set the standard for weddings here in Fiji with their gorgeous Fiji Rustic ceremony and reception setup.
It was a pleasure working with these two to help bring Bula Bride’s and their visions to life, to create a setup that has never been seen before in Fiji and an example that it only takes that little bit of extra love to produce something truly wonderful and unique. The setup was brought together with the help of Rosie Fiji and Staging Connections who provided the cabanas, lounges and the twinkling light canopy.
Victoria Wines were on hand to supply us with a divine selection of wines and champagne.
The champagne of choice for the evening was Te Hana Sparkling that tasted as gorgeous as the bottles look. In Maori, Te Hana means ‘to shine’. Te Hana is a perfect choice for weddings available in from Victoria Wines in 750ml bottles and the gorgeous little picolos.
Accompanying Victoria Wines was Adi Chocolate Fiji, creating little morsels of deliciousness to match with the Te Hana sparkling. Adi Chocolate Fiji, is the world’s purest chocolate factory on the cacao island of Vanua Levu. They make their chocolate by hand, the ancient way, using just two ingredients: tropical sun-dried Trinitario beans grown in the deep rainforests on this island, and raw cane sugar grown on this island. No chemicals are added, just laughter and love, and you can taste it! YUM!
Chef from the Sofitel Fiji tantilised our taste buds with a delicious cocktail menu. And Taste Fiji were on hand to provide some additional yum for dessert with salted caramels cupcakes, macrons and a Bula Bride Birthday cake that almost brought me to tears. Taste Fiji are doing wonderful things in Fiji at the moment and I can’t wait to return to eat more of their scrumptious goods.
We were graced by the pinkest of sunsets I had seen all week on Denarau Island and as the sun set the light canopy by Staging Connections began to sparkle. There were formalities, laughter and a whole lot of chin waging about the week that was and the new friendships and opportunities made. It was so great to see the industry come together and talk about the bright future Fiji Weddings has. I’m telling you ladies and gents its only going to get better from here on in.
The creative duo Kama Catch Me Photography were on hand to capture the evening and its events. They even brought their Photo Bure out of retirement for the event, which provided some fantastic results. I’m not sure what it is but when you get a whole bunch of photographers in front of a camera, anything can happen! Enjoy!
Vinaka vaka levu to all who attended the evening and especially to those who made it truly magical. I look forward to the next Bula Bride Bash at FTE 2015 (yes we’ll be back). I have a feeling the next is going to be even more magical ~Kylie x
