About
BULA VINAKA!
We’re Laurence & Elle born and bred in beautiful Fiji and Nadi Bay Photography is our little venture going on 10 years now.
Laurence is the photographer in our little team, the one behind the camera failing miserably at being funny and witty which is his very own brand of humour while Elle with her tourism background tinkers away behind the scenes bringing everything together. We make a pretty good team and our son Riley should soon be in training to join Mum & Dad.
Being local we know all the good spots and have known most of the staff at nearly all of the resorts all around the country for a good number of years now, so you would be in good hands. Our roots run deep in Fiji with both our families having arrived here a few generations ago and as it goes in Fiji everyone knows everyone, so don’t be surprised if Laurence points out that in fact the lead singer of your band is his uncle, your wedding planner is his sister, or your celebrant played bass in ‘Battle of the Bands’ against his dad 50 years ago!
Laurence’s aesthetic has been described as timeless, natural and romantic with an understated elegance. He has a talent for incorporating the stunning Fijian landscape into his photographs and we often hear from couples about how relaxed he makes them feel in front of the camera and how everyone enjoys his company.
If you have chosen Fiji for your destination wedding then Congratulations, you obviously have great taste! Fiji is the place to be and we are lucky to call it home. It would be an honour if you chose us to capture your wedding day, we can’t wait to hear from you.
Q & A with Nadi Bay Photography
Tell us a little about your background?
Laurence is a 5th generation Fiji Islander and the husband & wife team are both from business families who have a long history of service in Fiji.
How did you begin your business?
Elanie was working in Fiji’s tourism industry after obtaining a Bachelor’s Degree in Tourism while Laurence travelled all over the world and it was while working for 2 years in London that he realized that his photography hobby was fast becoming a passion and something he could see himself doing as a career. After returning to Fiji, Laurence was asked by a local agent to photograph a wedding. The wedding couple were so happy with the results that he was asked to do another and he quickly became so busy that Elanie decided to join Laurence in running the company which quickly became one of the most sought after wedding photography companies in Fiji.
What do you enjoy the most about what you do?
Meeting so many new people that you would never have met otherwise and on one of the most important days in their life! I love being able to lend a helping hand, word of encouragement or a well-timed distraction if needed on the day, of course while capturing it all for posterity.
Your favourite location for a Fiji Wedding?
Anywhere unique that showcases Fiji’s raw beauty. So far have loved shooting weddings at Yasawa Island Resort, Savasi Island Resort in Savusavu, sand bars in the middle of the South Pacific Ocean, Taveuni and the list goes on.
Your favourite wedding you have shot so far and why?
I have been very lucky to have had the opportunity to shoot so many great, fun and love filled weddings and to meet the amazing people that I have along the way but I always go back to a wedding I shot when I was just starting out which has always stayed with me. It isn’t really the shoot but the couple and their story that will always keep this as my favourite. Anny and Mike were an elderly couple from the States that had lived never more than a few houses away from each other since they were little kids but who had never actually met or known that the other existed. Many years later they finally did find each other and just over a year later they were getting married on a beautiful beach on the other side of the world and I was there to hear their story and capture the day for them. Both were getting married for the first time and just a few weeks shy of Mike’s 80th birthday. They were so in love and happy and I just felt like their story was a fine example that everyone has the love of their life out there, and it will happen when the time is right!
Favorite place to visit in Fiji?
