Wedding | Vicki & Nicholas | Outrigger

Vicki and Nicholas met through Tinder and instantly knew they were destined to get married. Nicholas proposed to Vicki in a cemetery, which may sound unusual but was deeply meaningful. Both of Vicki’s parents had passed away, and she often felt sadness during significant moments because they weren’t there to share them with her. Nicholas chose to propose where her parents are buried, allowing Vicki to share that special moment with them.

When deciding on a wedding location, they chose Fiji because they wanted the focus to be on their family and friends. It was also a place where they could bring their four children and enjoy quality time together. For the wedding venue, Vicki and Nicholas selected the Outrigger on Fiji’s Coral Coast. Vicki’s mum had once planned a family holiday at the Outrigger for Christmas, but sadly passed away just a few weeks before the trip, leading to its cancellation. Vicki wanted to experience the place her mum had always wanted her to see.

The inspiration behind their wedding planning was family. They wanted a simple, intimate celebration that brought together all the people they love.

We catch up with Bride Vicki on planning their wedding in Fiji:

Location of wedding: Outrigger Fiji Beach Resort, Coral Coast
Number of guests: 6
Where did you and your guests travel from: Toowoomba, Australia

Getting Ready

I wanted my wedding day to be simple, intimate and connected to all the people we love.

I booked Amele from Totoka Hair & Make Up for my wedding day and she was so bubbly, friendly and made the time so effortless.  I loved the final look. My dress was from Exquisite Gowns by Yvonne.

The Ceremony

We had our ceremony on the reef lawn. I wanted something bright and easy for all our kids to play and enjoy. We centred the whole wedding around our kids. My son walked me down the aisle, my daughter sang our walking down the aisle song, my baby walked down the aisle with her godfather and our eldest son was by my husbands side.

We wrote our own vows and was the most important part for me. We made it very intimate and personal. Everyone was crying.

Photography

We booked New Light Photography- Rusila was so approachable and helpful. I loved her natural photos and the lighting she utilised. We requested natural and intimate shots and I love our photos. I think they reflect the day perfectly.

For Videography we booked Videoticz. I really wanted our ceremony to be quite documentary style with a lot of detail. I found this was not the case with the final product, but it was still beautiful.

The Reception

We had our reception on the Reef Lawn. As we wanted it low key and intimate, the decor at our reception was what was included in the Outrigger package with the addition of the table runner flower piece.

We chose the alternate drop 3 course banquet with a private function on the reef lawn and Outrigger provided our cake.

What were your overall highlights of your Fiji wedding?

We loved the people and how friendly and welcoming everyone was. We loved that family time was our focus and relaxing and slowing down our lives.

Do you have any tips or advice for Fiji-Bound Brides?

Focus on what is important to you and let go of everything else that doesn’t impact that! Our friends and our kids were the priority so I did not focus on anything that would not impact them – i.e. themes, colours, everything! I focused on the vows and the experiences we would have together!
