Myles and Audrey first crossed paths at church during Myles’ initial weekend in Sydney, Australia, on a work trip. Six months later, after moving to Queensland for work, they reconnected and spent countless days together by the beach — and the rest, as they say, is history.
The proposal was just as memorable. Growing up in Sydney, Audrey had always loved watching the weekly fireworks at Darling Harbour. On the eve of her 24th birthday, Myles recreated that childhood magic, taking her to the bridge to watch the fireworks before dinner — and there, he popped the question.
For their wedding, Fiji was the natural choice. A beachside sunset ceremony had long been a dream, and having visited Fiji several times before, they were drawn to its stunning scenery, welcoming people, and vibrant atmosphere. True to their spontaneous nature, a destination wedding felt perfect — especially on a beach where they had spent so many of their early days together.
We catch up with Bride Audrey on planning their wedding in Fiji:
The Planning
We chose the Intercontinental Fiji for our wedding because it felt perfect for us and convenient for our guests. The resort has the most beautiful beach strip on the island, and we knew immediately that it was exactly the kind of setting we wanted for our day.
When it came to planning, we were definitely spreadsheet people. We compared wedding packages from more than five resorts in Nadi, looking closely at what each one offered, what felt like good value, and what aligned best with our vision. We also spent a lot of time watching videos and scrolling through social media to see real weddings at each location.
Planning from overseas did have its challenges, but the in-house coordinator at the Intercontinental was amazing. She helped bring our ideas to life and made the final decisions — like choosing the music, food, and décor — genuinely fun. Communication with vendors could sometimes be slow, and choosing specific locations for each part of the wedding without seeing the resort in person was tricky. But overall, the process was exciting and seeing everything come together in the end made it all completely worth it.
The Ceremony
Our ceremony took place at the stunning Chapel Beachfront at the Intercontinental — a location we chose for its breathtaking ocean views and the serene, open feel of the beachfront. It offered the perfect balance of beauty and simplicity, setting the tone for the relaxed yet elegant celebration we envisioned.
The ceremony décor and floral arrangements were provided and styled by Fiji Weddings, who created a beautiful setup of white and green florals that complemented the natural surroundings. To add a personal touch of colour, we encouraged our guests to wear sunset-inspired tones, bringing soft, warm hues into the overall aesthetic.
We wanted the entire day to feel effortless, intimate, and meaningful. Since we had already eloped in Sydney six months earlier without many of our friends and family, this celebration was about gathering everyone we love and creating a weekend that felt unique and truly “us.”
The ceremony itself was short and sweet — just a heartfelt exchange of vows and rings, set against the sound of the ocean. Simple, sincere, and full of love, it was exactly the moment we had hoped for.
The Photography
We were lucky enough to have our close friend Jenna Wilson (@wildreefco) photograph our wedding. Choosing her felt natural — not only does she capture moments with a storytelling touch, but we also wanted her to enjoy the experience of shooting overseas while still being part of our celebration as a guest. Her warm presence and creative eye made the whole process feel effortless.
For our photography, we wanted a blend of editorial and documentary styles — something polished yet natural, combining beautiful, composed shots with candid moments that reflected the real emotion of the day. Jenna captured that balance perfectly.
Our videographers, End of Time Weddings, were chosen for their artistry, friendly approach, and their extensive experience filming at the Intercontinental. We loved their documentary-style storytelling, which gave everything a cinematic feel.
We’re absolutely in love with what we received. The photos and videos capture not only the joy and emotion of the day, but also the unique beauty and atmosphere of Fiji — the colours, the light, the warmth. It all feels magical, and so authentically us.
The Reception
Our reception took place at the Kama Beachfront at the Intercontinental Fiji — the perfect blend of grand and relaxed, exactly the atmosphere we wanted. We envisioned a scene straight out of Mamma Mia: an intimate yet lively dinner party on the sand, surrounded by twinkling lights, good food, and the sound of the ocean. It was also the ideal spot for the fireworks we had planned for later in the evening.
Fiji Weddings handled all the décor, keeping the same colour palette we used for the ceremony to create a seamless flow throughout the day. The overall look felt cohesive, elegant, and beautifully beachy.
For dinner, we chose a buffet-style spread with plenty of seafood, paired with virgin piña coladas and mocktails — since none of our guests drink alcohol, this felt perfect for us. Our wedding cake was made by the Intercontinental chef: a two-tier orange and coconut cake inspired by tropical flavours that were light, sweet, and not too heavy after a big meal.
DJ Works kept the energy flowing all night, and our friend Lloyd did an amazing job MCing. After the cake cutting and dancing, we ended the night with a spectacular fireworks display, followed by more music, conversations, and even a few guests sneaking off to watch the rugby in the Kama Lounge.
It was warm, joyful, relaxed, and full of personality — everything we wanted our beachfront celebration to be.
The Holiday
We spent a total of seven days in Fiji for the wedding, giving ourselves enough time to celebrate, relax, and enjoy the island with our guests. The days leading up to the wedding were filled with fun and connection — the perfect mix of adventure and downtime.
Over the wedding weekend, we kicked things off with a beachside day of jetskiing, paddle boarding, and sharing snacks with our guests until sunset. It was such a memorable way to bring everyone together and ease into the celebrations.
The morning after the wedding, we hosted a group brunch at Navo Restaurant at the Intercontinental, which felt like the perfect way to wrap up the festivities and spend a little more quality time with everyone. Afterwards, Myles and I slipped away to the Marriott at Momi Bay for our minimoon — a beautiful, peaceful way to unwind after the excitement of the big day.
Overall Highlights
Our biggest highlights were definitely the fireworks — a moment that held special meaning for us — and the time we were able to spend with our guests. Having three full days together meant we could truly catch up, relax, and enjoy each other’s company without feeling rushed. It made the whole celebration feel warm, meaningful, and perfectly paced.
Top tips for future Fiji Brides
My biggest tips are, first, to write down all your questions for vendors in advance and schedule calls to go through everything at once. This helps avoid delays and endless back-and-forth messages, especially when planning from overseas. Second, assign a trusted guest to collect your décor and keepsakes at the end of the night. It’s an easy way to make sure you bring home the little details that made your day special.
