Gosia & Brian - Fiji Marriott Resort Momi Bay Fiji Weddings - Bula Bride

Gosia & Brian – Fiji Marriott Resort Momi Bay

Brian & Gosia had a very romantic meeting, the kind you see in movies. They met in 2015 on an aeroplane, when Gosia’s now husband sat next to her.

Having always wanted a tropical wedding, they initially chose Hawaii and went on a scouting trip. However they could not find a location that really spoke to them. Gosia had travelled to Fiji before and had very fond memories of the people and the surroundings. Brian had heard Gosia tell tales of how beautiful Fiji was and when he suggested it as a destination she quickly agreed. They chose the Marriott because it was more secluded than the other resorts and they both wanted something intimate.

We catch up with Gosia on planning her wedding:

When researching and organising our wedding, I reviewed Bula Bride for possible locations, inspiration and local suppliers. I also sent out requests for proposals to 5 possible venues and reviewed the responses to choose the best venue which suited our needs. I worked with our wedding planner to work on the theme, the menu, the cake, the flowers, the “feel” of the wedding and the pre and post wedding activities. We made our own passports for wedding invitations and organised 4 days worth of events. In addition to this, I reviewed the local suppliers for photography and hair and makeup and worked with them on how we wanted to look and how we wanted to capture the day.

We used the Wedding Co-ordinator that was allocated to us through the resort. She was exceptional, and went above and beyond to give us a memorable experience. She arranged everything from accommodation for our friends and family, to a nanny for our little girl.

GETTING READY

My day was very busy, as I had to manage naps for a 10 month old baby and work with the nanny on what time she will nap and what time she will need to be picked up. Because all of us were getting ready in my room, we had my baby sleeping in my parent’s room. So I was running between the 2 rooms quite regularly! I started my day with room service breakfast whilst I prepared my baby for the day.

Once she was picked up, hair and makeup arrived and so did my 3 bridesmaids, my mother in law, her cousin and my mother. Hair and makeup had a big job. We spent the day drinking champagne, sharing fond memories, getting ready, steaming the dress, practicing speeches, ordering room service, listening to music, eating pizza, and running back and forth for nap times.

Our hair and makeup was done by Totoka Hair & Makeup. They did an excellent job. They even took photos of us in between jobs and sat with us and shared stories over pizza. They were extremely professional and worked with me before the day to understand the skin tone, hair type and desired look from every client on the day.

My dress was from: Bellae La Bestia

The Bridesmaids dresses were from: I wanted the bridesmaids to pick their own in a selected colour palette so they could re wear them. They were from Forever New and Alex Perry.

The Groom & the guys wore: Hugo Boss

THE CEREMONY:

The location was The North Point, Marriot Momi Bay. The resort provided and set up the décor at the ceremony. Think of a tropical sunset and tropical garden: Pinks, blues, aquas, yellow, green. Those were the colours.

Our ceremony was a beautiful laidback ceremony with an antipasto platter, juice stand and Fijian serenaders. We chose the standard vows simply because we have been committed to one another for years and have a child together so we didn’t write our own vows, as we live them each day.

GETTING PHOTOS:

Bulashots Fiji was our photographer. I chose them because they had an easy to understand menu of services to select from, because they had a gorgeous portfolio of shots and because they came highly recommended. Would choose them again!

We wanted shots that capture the moment. Fun, relaxed, natural and happy. Nothing too staged. That’s what we wanted and exactly what they gave us. Every time I look at them, I smile. I love how they captured the natural moments throughout the day. Yes, we did the official family and bridal photos, but my favourite ones were the ones taken when people thought no one was watching.

THE RECEPTION:

The recption was North Point, Marriot Momi Bay.

We continued the tropical sunset theme through to the reception, there were a lot of blues, aquas, pinks, and yellows.

Cocktail hour was The Sunset Spritzer and The Caprioska. On the dinner menu was Fijian Kokoda and Yuzu cured salmon for starters, grilled lamb rack and slow cooked pork fillet for mains and chocolate delice and mango and passionfruit panna cotta for dessert. Our wedding cake was made by the talented chef at the Fiji Marriott, and we selected red velvet with a floral cake topper.

Our music was by DJ Works Fiji – and they were incredible. They worked closely with us to select songs for the formalities and helped us choose songs for the dance floor. At the end of the reception, a few of us went to a party at our friend’s over water bungalow.

HIGHLIGHTS OF THE DAY:

Seeing the look of happiness on my husband’s face when I walked down the aisle, dancing with my father, seeing all my friends, family and loved ones in one place from all over the world and spending the day with my favourite girls getting ready.

Other festivities

We had 4 days of events. 2 days before the wedding, we hired a boat from our resort and went snorkelling, visited a sand bank and went to Cloud 9 Fiji. They actually did some wonderful underwater photographs of us and our guests, it was magical.

We did welcome cocktails the night before the wedding, and had a mix of hot and cold canapes such as seared scallops, lamb sausage rolls, melon and prosciutto skewers.

The day after the wedding, we did a post wedding BBQ buffet lunch. The resort set up beautiful tables and centerpieces on the beach and we drank sangria and had a delicious lunch. It was a nice way to wrap up the festivities.
