Elopement | Megan & Tony | Likuliku Lagoon Resort
Tony and Megan met while living in Georgia. They were neighbors initially, living two floors apart. Megan would bring her dog, Ava, to the bottom floor, right outside Tony’s apartment, where Tony would come outside and chat while she was down there. One thing led to another, and they started dating, quickly falling in love with one another.
Tony, who was from New York, already had plans to move back home prior to them starting to date. After he moved, they kept dating long distance, and Megan went to visit a couple of times before Tony officially asked Megan to uproot and move to be with him. So, without hesitation, she did!
Fast forward 7 years and they were vacationing in Costa Rica. The first night they were there, Tony asked Megan to go on a walk in the beach to see the stars. While they were there, with just the light of the stars and the moon reflecting off the ocean, Tony proposed! Again, without an ounce of hesitation, Megan said yes!
We catch up with Bride Megan on planning her wedding in Fiji:
Why did you choose Fiji to get married?
We wanted something beautifully intimate and to be able to honeymoon right away! So we settled on Malolo Island so that we could stay at the beautiful Likuliku Lagoon Resort. We just went with what we thought represented us and our love.
The staff at Likuliku were extremely helpful in recommending a hair and makeup artist as well as a photographer. Everything was so simple and seamless with the help of Likuliku Lagoon’s event coordinators.
Getting ready
I had Faiza from Totoka Hair and Makeup come to do my hair and make up. Faiza arrived at the island and immediately began making my bridal hair and makeup dreams come true! She took my inspiration photos and gave it her twist, but ultimately made me feel like the most beautiful bride! Additionally, we clicked instantly! She made the process of getting ready for my big day stress-free and FUN! Lastly, because we eloped with no friends or family, I had no one to help me get into my wedding gown and shoes, and Faiza was so generous and offered to be the one to button me up! I could not have asked for a better experience.
My dress was a Pronovias gown handmade in Barcelona, Spain, found in a bridal gown boutique called A Love Story by Angela’s Bridal in Upstate New York. My cathedral veil was handmade by my very own Nana for my little sister’s wedding day and was gifted to me as my “something borrowed” for my wedding day!
The Ceremony
We chose Masima Island at Likuliku Lagoon Resort, because you could see the overwater bures where we were staying with a beautiful view of the water.
We both hand wrote our vows in a “His and Her Vows” book.
Afterwards, we chose to do a sunset cruise hosted by Likuliku for our own personal “after party”. We popped a bottle of champagne and were serenaded by a lovely gentleman playing guitar and singing on the back of the boat.
Getting Photos
We chose Nadi Bay Photography, we saw their portfolio and instantly knew we loved their style and the way they captured the lightness of other couple’s days! Our day was captured by Laurence at Nadi Bay, we booked the maestro 2 Hour photography only ‘Peppermint’ package.
We love literally everything about our images. They caught the emotion of the day perfectly.
Overall highlights
The entire day was absolute perfection, from getting ready to marrying the love of our lives. Exchanging our personal vows was probably the most special part of our day.
Our experience at Likuliku was unmatched! Every single staff member would stop what they were doing anytime we walked by to greet us with an enthusiastic “BULA”! We felt so welcomed. The property was immaculately well-kept, from the rooms to the grounds and everything in between! A highlight that will stay with us forever was how bartender Mojee made us a special cocktail after our vow ceremony with our names in the drink. It was so special that he went above and beyond to give us an added memory on our big day!
Our tip is: Go for it! Elope, throw a party, do what YOU want!
