Elopement | Kirsty & Aaron | Sheraton Tokoriki Island
Kirsty and Aaron’s love story began in Melbourne, where they first met as workmates. Their journey took a magical turn in June 2024, when Aaron got down on one knee and proposed on the rooftop of the Langham Hotel.
Having visited Fiji multiple times, they had fallen in love with the country’s stunning landscapes and the warmth of its people. When it came time to plan their wedding, they knew a traditional celebration wasn’t for them. Instead, they chose to elope to their favorite place—a decision that felt intimate, meaningful, and perfect.
After exploring various resorts and wedding venues, they found their dream location at Sheraton Resort & Spa, Tokoriki Island. The intimate setting, breathtaking ocean views, and tranquil island atmosphere made it the ideal place to say “I do.”
We catch up with bride Kirsty on planning their elopement in Fiji:
Initial Planning
Our journey started with researching different hotels and wedding venues in Fiji. We wanted a location that felt secluded and special, yet still had all the luxuries of a beautiful island resort. After looking at several options, Sheraton Resort & Spa, Tokoriki Island stood out—it had everything we envisioned: a stunning tropical setting, lush flowers, and an intimate atmosphere.
To bring our vision to life, we worked with Kaliova from the Sheraton, and she was absolutely incredible! She made the entire process effortless, ensuring every little detail was taken care of. Since it was just the two of us, the entire planning process felt relaxed and easy.
We also found Bula Bride to be an amazing resource during the planning process. It was so helpful to see real Fiji weddings and get inspiration for different settings and styles.
Getting Ready
I used to work as a make-up artist so I did my own make up. I did my own hair also as wanted it simple due to heat and island breeze. My dress was a classic dress from Grace Loves Lace.
The Ceremony
When we imagined our perfect wedding day, we knew we wanted something simple, intimate, and breathtaking. We found exactly that on Tokoriki Beach, where we exchanged our vows with the sand beneath our feet and the ocean as our backdrop.
We worked with our wedding planner and celebrant to organize every detail, from the ceremony setup to the décor. I had Fijian warriors walk me down the aisle, adding a beautiful cultural touch to our day.
We decided to write our own vows, making the moment deeply personal and meaningful. Reading them to each other was truly special.
The Photography
We went with Nadi Bay Photography, who we found through the Bula Bride Facebook group and came highly recommended. We were after natural, classic shots that would incorporate the scenery.
We love our photos, they are exactly what we wanted captured, focusing on us looking both natural and in love.
The Reception
After our ceremony, we celebrated with a romantic and intimate dinner at our hotel.
For our wedding dinner, we enjoyed a delicious selection of fresh Fijian and seafood dishes, including Kokoda (Fijian-style ceviche), Lobster, Crab Risotto, Snapper and Tiramisu for dessert. A wedding cake, prepared by the hotel, was the perfect final touch to our celebration.
The Travel
3 days before in Crowne plaza to complete paperwork in Nadi then flew to Sheraton Tokoriki by helicopter. After 5 days after the wedding we went to Shangri-La for honeymoon.
Overall Highlights
Our overall highlights were the beautiful scenery, amazing food and being surrounded by amazing Fijian people.
