Elopement | Ben & Rachel | The Pearl
Ben & Rachel chose to marry in Fiji as part of a holiday they had previously booked. They didn’t want the hassle of the big wedding and so choosing to elope was the perfect addition to their holiday.
We catch up with Bride Rachel on planning her elopement in Fiji:
BRIDE & GROOM: Ben and Rachel
THE DATE: 06/06/2023
THE LOCATION: The Pearl South Pacific
THE NUMBER OF GUESTS: None
Researching and organising our wedding involved a fair amount of googling and joining Fiji bride pages on Facebook. Plus lot of communication with different hotels about packages.
We used Bula Bride as a resource, and it was good because everything was clearly labelled. When I saw recommendation on Facebook, I could go onto Bula Bride and ensure that they were a legitimate company which made me confident to book our vendors. We settled on The Pearl due to price and location.
My hair and make up was done by Totoka Hair and Make Up. They were absolutely lovely. So easy to work with and their stylist really listened to what I wanted. Being by myself she even helped me get into my dress.
My dress was from: Shazzam Bridal in Toronto NSW
The Groom wore: Connor
THE CEREMONY:
Ceremony location: Beach front at The Pearl
The Pearl provided and set up the décor at the ceremony. I didn’t choose anything and I think that was the best part for me. There was no stress. I just had to turn up and get married.
We had a very intimate ceremony. While it was just the two of us, quite a few people from the hotel came down to watch. It was different but for us it was a great experience. We wrote our own vows and brought them with us.
GETTING PHOTOS:
Our Photographer was Reenal from Videoticz. We honestly had no preferences with shots, the only thing I wanted was photos in the water. Reenal was great at directing us into good photos for us. He did so many different location and poses that it made our wedding album quite diverse which is lovely considering we didn’t have any family there.
I love that they are just us having fun. I remember the memories around them and that makes me feel so good about the way we did things and that we didn’t have to worry about the influence of family.
YOUR ADVICE FOR BRIDES PLANNING A FIJI WEDDING:
Be prepared for it to take time. I would begin the planning process early and just know sometimes it take a week or so for the vender to get back to you. The more you are willing to go with the flow, the easier the process will be.
HIGHLIGHTS OF THE DAY:
Spending the day with my best friend. I loved our vows that no one else knows but us. Getting driven around in a golf buggy to my ceremony location. Having strangers say congratulations and yell things at us like “You’ll make it”.
