Q&A WITH LAURA FROM ISLAND ENCOUNTERS PHOTOGRAPHY
How did you begin your business and how long have you offered wedding photography?
I am an expat who has lived in and loved Fiji for more than 17 years. I have three beautiful daughters, Eden, Elani and Isla, all born in Fiji. My husband and I direct a non-profit in Fiji that reaches out to meet the needs of the underprivileged through education and sustainable agriculture. The photography business helps to support the non-profit, enabling our clients to leave a legacy of love to the people of these beautiful islands. I have been photographing weddings through my small business for six years now, loving every moment.
What inspired you to become a wedding photographer?
I love capturing love. I can’t think of a greater privilege than coming alongside a couple on their wedding day, capturing all of the special moments and connecting with them through the joy of it all. I love the challenge and the constantly changing elements that keep me on my toes, and keep me growing as a professional and a creative.
Do you have packages and what are they?
I offer three fully-customizable packages ranging from 2 hours to all day coverage. Fill out the contact form and I’ll be happy to send you a PDF will all of the details.
How many weddings do you cover a day?
Never more than one in a day, in fact I try to keep it to around 2-3 a month so I can give each one the attention it deserves.
What is your current most requested photography style?
Joyful, light-filled, artistic images.
How much lead time do you need for couples to confirm your services?
I book up to 18 months out, but am happy to cater to last-minute requests if I am available.
Do you have a favorite location to shoot and why?
I love the ocean, the sand, and the highlands. (That’s pretty much all of Fiji!)
Top tip for couples who wish to make the best of your service?
If I spend the night at your resort or island, definitely consider a water session or a next-day session since I’m already there! It’s so cost effective to add-on another fun session the next day, when the pressure of the timeline is off, and we can just relax and have fun.
(I LOVE WATER SESSIONS!!)
