How to plan an intimate (and perfect) wedding in Fiji
We have noticed a growing trend in the Fiji market for smaller more intimate weddings with many personal touches and without the stress and cost of planning an elaborate affair. This might either be just you and your partner; or you might choose to get married in Fiji with just a select few of your friends & family. Having a small group is likely to mean that every person there is special to you and you might like to plan your wedding with this in mind. Small but significant touches can be added throughout the day, creating a truly bespoke experience – a wedding for you like no one else’s.
For brides & grooms who want the dream destination wedding in Fiji, but don’t have the time or don’t want the stress of organising everything themselves, the ideal solution is to engage a Wedding Planner to design an intimate wedding just for you.
With perhaps only 2 to 15 guests to cater for, it’s a great idea to work with a wedding planner to best determine and book a stunning location to suit your group, help you choose top quality suppliers for your day and spend some time considering the design & set up of your ceremony + reception and how best to bring this to life.
The result? Simplicity, beauty and the wedding of your dreams, with only your special few.
We catch up with Fiji Wedding Planner Chelsea from Chelsea Jayne weddings, who specialises in organising the perfect small wedding day, to find out what some of her favourite packages are and what she works through with brides looking to book their dream small wedding or elopement in Fiji.
Fiji has something for everyone, weather you want to be married barefoot on an sandbar somewhere in the Pacific Ocean, walk amoungst the grasses of the highlands or emerse yourself in a tropical rainforest. Fiji has so many different options especially for those small more boutique weddings we are seeing in Fiji. Its also helps that Fiji is just a short 4 hours from the East Coast of Australia, so you don’t have travel a long way and deal with jet lag, you can get married over a long weekend!
Initially Chelsea will set up a complimentary meeting via phone or Skype to establish the nature and extent of wedding assistance required.
If you decide to have Chelsea plan your wedding she will provide venue & ceremony recommendations, review all the wedding contracts, manage pricing negotiations, confirmations and deposits all on your behalf. Chelsea also makes supplier recommendations for companies providing services such as florists, photography, videography, cake, transport, hair & makeup. The legal side also has to be arranged and Chelsea can organise all documentation on your behalf.
There is a long list of amazing locations in Fiji and it is always hard to narrow them down. Here, Chelsea has picked 3 of the best for small groups or elopements – and she’ll tell you why.
1. Vomo Island – Mamanuca Islands
Vomo Island is perfect for an elopement or small wedding. It’s a small family-friendly resort on a large Island with plenty of space to have a private intimate ceremony without other resort guests sneaking by for a look. They have several types of accommodation on offer, such as romantic beachfront villas or their large 3 or 4 bedroom private residences are just perfect for small groups to share. Their elopement ceremony packages start from F$5200 and all inclusive receptions starting from F$350 per person. Vomo is a boutique style resort, nothing cookie cutter about this place, they will liaise with us to create that perfect wedding for you.
2. Castaway Island – Mamanuca Islands
Castaway Island is that perfect middle range resort offering the perfect place for an elopement or small wedding. This amazing island has such charm, our clients don’t want to leave and we get many, many returnees. The stunning Monkey Rock offers the perfect background for a beach style ceremony and the lush green gardens surrounding the resort offer a stunning backdrop for your wedding photos. Their wedding packages are great value starting from F$3300 + tax for an elopement and F$10480+ tax for an all inclusive wedding reception package for 20 people.
3. Jean-Michel Cousteau – Vanua Levu
Most of our clients have children so when they ask us for the best family resort but still offering that romantic atmosphere Jean-Michel Cousteau on the northern island of Vanua Levu Fiji is our first recommendation. Just a short 1 hour plane ride to Vanua Levu from Nadi airport, this all inclusive resort offers nannies for each child under 5 years and buddies for kids over 6 – 12yrs included in the rate from 8.30am – 9pm and the kids club is out of this world! The main area of the resort is child free so you can still get that romance of an Adult only resort. At certain times for the year they will include a wedding ceremony in your accommodation package if you book 5 or more nights.
If you’re wanting a beautiful, stress-free and intimate wedding, a Wedding Planner will save you the endless hours involved in a planning a wedding overseas. All the legwork, sourcing your perfect location, the best accommodation rates and of course exceptional local suppliers whilst also working out all the logistics for you and your guests will all be covered.
We here at Bula Bride thoroughly agree! Even for a small group or elopement it is a good idea to have a planner involved to help you pull it all together. That way the trip and the wedding stay stress free with no details missed.
