Sean & Charnele are the owners of Onyx Bar & Platinum Nightclub and Cafe Victoria in Suva. And Charnele is Laurence of Nadi Bay Photography‘s cousin. So who else would they get to capture their engagement session!
A couple that is always willing to try something new and exciting, Laurence took Sean & Charnele to a spot up in the mountains overlooking Nadi Bay. A special spot in which Laurence and Elanie found back in 2013 and had planned to get married up there.
Sean & Charnele are set to marry in May 2016 at the InterContinental Fiji Resort with 450 family & friends from Fiji and abroad. That’s going to be one hell of a party!
Sean and Charnele share with us more on their engagement and the stunning shoot your about to see!
How did you meet?
New Years Eve 2012, I met my prince charming. I had tripped down a few stairs and my darling Sean caught me just in time. After 7 eventful yet amazing years we have finally settled down: excited, engaged and expecting our very first baby in December 2015.
When and where did you get engaged?
Sean the Sagittarius is the very romantic type. On Sunday 14th June 2015, Sean told me that we had dinner scheduled with his family at the Grand Hotel here in Suva, to hop into a nice outfit and some heels and dress to the occasion. On the way to dinner, he mentioned that he needed to check something at work we took a detour and pulled in for a few minutes. Little did I know, he went into the club (Onyx Platinum)to do his final checks on an event he had been planning for 2 months prior.
He quickly rushed back to the car and asked me to put on a blindfold on and follow him into the club – I was so confused as this was so random, but I played along. As soon as we entered the club, he played my favorite song “Manhattans – Shining Star”, he unwrapped the blindfold, and told me to open my eyes.
The first thing I saw was my beautiful family and friends surrounding us in a circle of tea light candles. In the midst of nerves and excitement there was Sean on one bended knee, holding up a ring and asked that one question I had been waiting for my whole life: In a brave, clear and loud tone, he held my hands and looked into my eyes and said to me “Charnele Will you Marry me?” I would say YES to him a million times over and over again.
Why it was important to you to have a E-session and maternity shoot?
We had never ever done a photo shoot before. However before we planned on settling down, we knew who we wanted as our personal photographer – he is a strong creative individual and she assists his every creative move: who both happen to be my cousins Laurence Beddoes and Elanie Patterson also known as Nadi Bay Photography. Laurence and his fiancé Elanie are just fantastic at what they do and we have been following their amazing work for years hoping that one day it will be our turn to use them.
Once we got engaged and also found out we were having a baby, it was the perfect time to approach El to start our photographic journey and capture the milestones we were about to undertake. Nadi Bay Photography was a dream to work with. With their amazing creativity in mind (they certainly didn’t do mainstream) as we were not so crazy about the super traditional, staged photos with fake smiles… We were the type that loved in –the moment but unexpected candid shots, action shots, beautiful natural shots of all the little
(nature, jewelry, atmosphere, character etc), and sometimes quirky shots of in the moment humour. They did just that but better. They literally took us to and made us feel on top of the world. We had the time of our lives as we laughed, joked around, and just enjoyed our afternoon with El & Laurence.
We’re obsessed with our photos. While creating a havoc of fun up the mountains, they captured each and every memory Sean and I made and shared as we reflected on our lives and our journey with how far we have come as a strong couple and now transforming our lives to begin a new family as we excitingly expect our little baby in a couple of weeks time.
