Delightfully georgeous! That’s all I have for this Intercontinental Fiji wedding. The dress, the florals, the simplicity and the OTBP portraits.
If you don’t know what OTBP means it stands for ‘off the beaten path’. It’s when you go on a little trip away from the resort to capture bridal portraits in the unique Fiji surrounds. If your heading overseas to get hitched you want portraits to showcase where you are and the special place you chose to say I do.
Nick & Chrisi had the pleasure of Leezett Photography to capture it all. Chrisi joins the blog to share with us details of their day.
The Planning / We decided on a destination wedding so we could host an intimate affair with our closest friends and families. We began planning in early 2014 so as to give everyone lots of notice.
The Theme / We decided to use scents instead of a colour or theme. We had Diptyque candles on the Chapel altar in Baies fragrance (Bulgarian rose and blackcurrent) and the chapel and reception were scented with a matching room spray. We had a scent station set up for guests with rose face mist, coconut scented sunscreen and rose and sandalwood scented fans. At the reception we used scented tea light candles on the tables and guests took home a soy candle in the matching scent. We also found scented crayons and textas for the kids table. We loved this idea as we didn’t want the theme to overshadow the wedding. And now when we burn candles at home it triggers memories of our amazing day.
The Dress / Pallas Couture – Corilea gown with matching single tier veil. Panache Bridal shoes.
Having a dress made by Pallas Couture was such a memorable experience and the dress itself is just exquisite. I fell in love with this dress the moment I saw it. I’ve never seen anything quite like it.
The Ceremony / Was held at The Chapel at Fiji Intercontinental. The chapel was decorated with white orchid arrangements on the altar and pews, petals lining the aisle, Diptyque candles.
We had a catholic ceremony officiated by Fr Jo Rokomatu (St Joan of Arc Parish Priest). Nick’s mother did the reading during the ceremony, and the vows were standard Catholic vows. We opted to write our own vows in letters to be read by each other privately before the ceremony.
The Reception / Was held at the Navo restaurant. We had tropical flower centrepieces and scented tea light candles on the tables. We used Minted for stationary (menus and table numbers) with the table numbers held by small copper coloured pineapples we found at Typo.
The Entertainment / Our DJ was happy to play a lot of our own music for us including a few Greek dancing songs. The reception ended with lots of cocktails, dancing and like all good Greek Weddings, the Bride and Groom dancing on the table surrounded by their friends and family cheering them on.
The Highlight / There were so many highlights but we loved sharing cake and champagne with our guests straight after the ceremony, then sneaking away for some quiet moments together by having our photos taken off site. It really allowed us to pause and take everything in. Leezett took us to an amazing location nearby with a rustic abandoned mosque. Perched on the top of a hill we could look down and see the entire resort from afar and we felt like time stopped and we were the only two people in the world.
Getting reading in the Orchid Room at the Intercontinental Day Spa was pretty special too.
Suppliers / We were lucky enough to have Leezett and Rusilia of Leezett Photography as our photographers and they are both out of this world amazing. We were blown away by the photos taken by this talented team. I can’t emphasise enough just how grateful we are for everything they did to help us have such a magical and memorable day. Leezett and her team went above and beyond to make the day run smoothly and effortlessly, and to leave us with a collection of photos more beautiful than we could have imagined.
Ash and his team (H&M Perfectionist) are fun and professional. He really does transform you. I’ve never felt so beautiful. Not only is the hair and makeup flawless but Ash really listens to what you want and has an amazing ability to create makeup that accentuates your features.
Damo from ZoomFiji did our video and was an absolute pleasure. Not only is he incredibly talented but a really down to earth and genuinely nice guy. We couldn’t speak highly enough of him and ZoomFiji.
We had such a fun day with Stu and Malia Johnson doing our trash the dress shoot. They really help you out in the water and we have some amazing and unique photos to look back on. So glad we did this!
