Today on the blog we have Byron Bay Photography and Bula Bride Directory Member Ming Nomchong guest post. Ming is no stranger to Fiji, I had the pleasure of catching up with her after finishing a ‘Bula Bride’ wedding at the Westin Resort & Spa back in September. The following day she was off on a trip down the coral coast for some R&R – take it away Ming!
Ah Fiji, my home away from home. It’s definitely my happy place. I was so fortunate to be able to share this trip with my sister, Jia and her partner Wispy and show them some of the hidden gems that only a local would know.
The trip was meant to be part work part play but due to crappy weather and strong winds it ended up being mostly forced hammock relaxation time. Which was exactly what I needed. We did a little shooting in the water and playing by the shore while the sun came out to say hi, making palm shelters and eating freshly plucked coconuts till our tummies hurt. We spent most of our time down at the Coral Coast at my favourite little hideaway, The Beachouse. From there we would go adventuring up and down the coast, to waterfalls and little villages, or out to sea, to snorkel or find whichever of the numerous local breaks were working that day. I just love that you can turn up to one of these breaks and have it to yourself the whole session. You don’t find that many places round the world. I wished we’d had better weather so I could of recapped the beauty of Fiji correctly for you, but I guess you’ll just have to get over there and see for yourself.
