Michael and Bridget met while studying Advertising at University in New Zealand. Couple years later they were getting hitched in tropical Fiji surrounded by 52 of their loved ones! This gorgeous Sofitel Fiji Wedding was captured by Origami Creatives. Bridget shares with us the details of her and Mike’s big day!
The Dress/ by Mira Mandic with an antique family brooch on the back.
The Maids/ Wore Cream & Lace Tulip dresses from ASOS
The Flowers/ Christine, Mikes Mum did all the flowers with Frangipanis and Roses in the bouquets and tropical local Fiji flowers in the decorations which we purchased from the markets a few days earlier. Thank you to Malakai our driver who took us to the great locations for flowers.
The Ceremony/ Was held at the Sofitel Beach front. Our close friend Mat helped us write the entire ceremony so it was completely personalised from when he met us, to when we got together, what we have done and our hopes for the future. It was personalised, funny and intimate.
The Reception/ Was at the V Restaurant, Sofitel. Table centrepieces were in Spaths from trees. Ecoya candles were on every table, as gifts for guests with a few lit so the room was scented French pear. Name cards had personalised messages inside for every guest from the bride and groom. Menu had been designed in the same look as the invitations. Large white balloons and a wall of fairy lights added decorations.
The End/ The entire bridal party and a few guests went swimming in the pool – dress and all. Then Sofitel offered us the Opera suite to enjoy.
The Day After their Sofitel Fiji Wedding / We continued to drink champagne, the boys played golf with Mikes new golf clubs (surprise wedding day gift from Bridget) Then the next day we all went on a great Whales Tale cruise to Schooner Island.
- Being able to share the day with each other and having everyone we love together
- Personalised and intimate ceremony read by our close friend Mat
- Groomsmen’s surprise of going to Beachcomber island on morning.
- The food, music, speeches, photos were all incredible.
- Consuming all the tequila and Canadian Club the Sofitel had.
- Setting off the fire alarm with the smoke machine – apologies to all the guests who evacuated.
- Swimming in the pool together at nights end in wedding gown.
The Advice/ You have to go with it and enjoy the day. Remember it’s Fiji time so if you want your hair and makeup done by 1pm it will be done by 2pm – so allow a lot more time.
