On our recent trip to Savusavu we had the pleasure of flying Island Hoppers Fiji. Island Hoppers Fiji offers express transfers from Nadi Airport or Denarau to the Mamanuca Island Resorts, Coral Coast and beyond. The service is second to none with pickup from your International flight or Hotel, to their own private lounge to await in comfort.
Island Hoppers is a little bit pricier then flying Fiji Link but the experience and service makes it will worth it. Plus, you may have the charter all to yourselves!
I had flown on small planes before. But usually the ones that have two propellers and you don’t have to bend down to get into the small cabin. So to say I was a little bit scared was an understatement. We firstly checked into our flight at Island Hoppers Lounge, then was transferred to the domestic terminal where we bordered our flight. Baggage was all handled by the staff and all we had to worry about was our hand luggage.
The one hour flight from Nadi to Savusavu was one of the most memorable experiences. The take off was so smooth and the flight felt as though the plane was gliding the whole way (this maybe due to the skills of pilot Luc).
I was gobsmacked and blown away by the view, the windows are wide enough for a view on all sides. The mountains, the rivers, the waterfalls and reefs in full view as you travel north toward Vanua Levu. This instilled the love I already had for Fiji.
As we approached Savusavu along the coastline my thoughts turned to “where are we going to land?” a swift turn and a hidden runway was revealed. With the tiniest airport terminal ever! We had truly landed in tropical heaven.
On our return flight we were lucky enough to have the charter to ourselves. So Mr BB got to co-pilot, and even have a go at flying the plane! We landed at Nadi Airport, grabbed out suitcases and walked over to International for our flight home. To easy!
If you are planning a trip to Savusavu I highly recommend jumping on board Island Hoppers Fiji. For more information and to book visit: http://www.islandhoppersfiji.com
