Chanelle and Glen - Musket Cove Fiji Weddings - Bula Bride

Chanelle and Glen – Musket Cove

We call ourselves ‘wedding stalkers’ here at Bula Bride – we pretty much scan the internet each day looking for the best and most fabulous weddings in Fiji and then track down the bride to get the low down on her wedding. Chanelle’s wedding was one of these – we spotted her photo on Zoom Fiji & Totoka Hair & Make Up’s social media, and we knew we just HAD to make this wedding a feature. We catch up with Bride Chanelle about planning her wedding in Fiji:

BRIDE & GROOM: Chanelle and Glen Angus
THE DATE: April 26th, 2019
THE LOCATION: Musket Cove Island Resort
THE NUMBER OF GUESTS: 83

We met in 2014 through mutual friends, Glen decided to add me on Facebook and the rest is history!

Fiji has become one of our favourite holiday destinations and on our last trip in 2016 we discussed coming back some day to get married. My family holiday at Musket Cove regularly thanks to my Aunty who got married there about 10 years ago. This made Musket Cove an obvious choice for our wedding.

We were super lucky since we were already so familiar with Musket Cove. The first thing we did was use Bula Bride to help us with inspiration for the style of wedding we were after. Then we began to book local Fiji Wedding Vendors through recommendations from Bula Bride and friends who married at Musket Cove a few years ago. We used Bula Bride a lot, we found the blog very useful as it had real bride and groom experiences and recommendations. There were also lots of photos which helped when it came to choosing our style.

GETTING READY

The ladies began the day with breakfast at 7.00am before heading to the Island Villas in time for Totoka Hair and Make-Up to start working their magic. I had gift bags for my bridesmaids with wedding day jewellery, robes and treats. The girls enjoyed being pampered, sharing memories, popping a few bottles of champagne and listening to music with the company of my parents and immediate family.

The boys had lots of time up their sleeves so began the day with breakfast and a swim. They then went back to the Beachfront Bure to begin getting ready and enjoy a few drinks. Glen had gift bags for the groomsman. Glen’s family joined them for a few celebratory pre-wedding drinks and photos.

Lydia and Kajal from were my team from Totoka Hair and Make-Up; they did an absolutely amazing job on myself, Mother of the Bride and Bridesmaids. They both had such lovely personalities and helped make our day relaxed and enjoyable. Everyone’s hair was so perfect, with a beautiful soft look and it stayed in all day. The make-up made all of us look flawless and we could not believe how well it stayed on. It was an extremely hot day and it did not come off at all!

My dress was from: Paperswan Bride in Wellington New Zealand.  It was the Una Gown by Lovers Society.

The Bridesmaids dresses were from: BLAK Clothing in Auckland New Zealand.

The Groom & the guys wore:  A combination of – Barkers, Country Road, 3 Wise Men

THE CEREMONY:

Location: Musket Cove Island Resort – past the Island Bar

Musket Cove provided and set up the décor at the ceremony. We had greenery, white and gold. Grace Creations did our flowers & bouquets.

We wanted to keep the ceremony short and sweet.  We got our siblings to do a shared reading during the ceremony.

GETTING PHOTOS:

We choose Zoom Fiji Photography – they were recommended to us by a friend who used them. Glen and I were keen for relaxed and fun photos. We are not used to having our photos taken so didn’t want it to stress us out on the day.

We absolutely LOVE how our photos turned out!  Bruce and Kiti did an incredible job of choosing great locations at Musket to take the photos.

THE RECEPTION:

Our reception was in front of Dick’s Place on the sand at Musket Cove Island Resort. Greenery, White and Gold were chosen and were provided by Musket Cove and Grace Creations.

Cocktail hour was held at the Island Bar straight after the ceremony. Guests gathered here while we had group and family photos.

We chose the Magiti Feast Banquet – alternate plate drop for entrée, main course platters, alternate plate drop for dessert.  We were blown away at the food! It was so delicious and the portion sizes were amazing. Musket Cove made our wedding cake. We went for something simple and chose Chocolate as it is Glen’s favourite.

We made a very spontaneous last minute decision to book InsideOut Fiji! We heard them playing at another wedding the day we arrived at Musket Cove so thought we would try our luck and we were ever so lucky to secure them for our wedding day. BEST DECISION EVER! They are an incredible band, had every guest up dancing even before the speeches!

We decided to carry the night on back at the Island Bar. It was lots of fun. We played our own music and danced the night away.

HIGHLIGHTS OF THE DAY:

  • Spending the morning getting ready with our wedding party and families
  • Seeing each other for the first time as I walked down the aisle
  • The reception: We knew it was time to let our hair down and have some fun! Dancing the night away.
  • The weather: Although it was almost too hot during the ceremony we could not have asked for a more perfect day

ADVICE FOR BRIDES PLANNING A FIJI WEDDING:

In the lead up to the wedding when still in your home country don’t stress about sorting all the nitty bitty things with your venue and vendors.  They are all experts and once you arrive everything comes together perfectly!
