We have a big following of American Brides getting married in Fiji so it is special to share this story from one couple who travelled from their home state of California to elope here at the beautiful Coral Coast of Fiji.
We catch up with Alison on why she choose a Fiji destination wedding and what made the day so special:
Louie and I have been together for over 8 years and when it came time to finally tie the knot, we wanted it to be an intimate ceremony between us somewhere memorable. We also still have a significant amount of student debt and eloping to a far off tropical destination like Fiji was the perfect solution.
We did a lot of research on various resorts that would offer wedding packages to make it easy on our end, since we were coming from California and finally settled on the Outrigger on the Lagoon, Fiji. To our surprise, we later learned of the excitement/buzz around the Outrigger as they rarely have destination weddings from Americans.
Our wedding day took place on June 6, 2016 and it went off without a hitch. There was zero stress. I think everyone should elope! The day was so positive and no criticism or reason to worry about tiny details.
The Outrigger Fiji handled everything from the flowers, the sashes, dinner, cake, officiant, music, everything we needed and then some! When it came time to find a photographer, we searched around with some local vendors, but it was an easy decision to have my cousin Jasmine Lee (www.jasmineleephotography.com) join us with her close friend and assistant Stephanie.
The ceremony took place on the beach. Louie’s suit was custom made by Indochino and by dress was Adrianna Papell. We were serenaded by 3 Fijian guitar players. We wrote our own vows and although Louie’s weren’t anything overly sentimental, I was still brought to tears (of joy).
We did our cake cutting after the ceremony and took more photos around the property, including up around the grassy areas by the Outrigger’s chapel/Bebe Spa. In the evening, we had a private dinner in the IVI restaurant which included a bottle of sparkling wine and ended the night back in our bure with champagne and desserts.
We spent a total of 5 days in Fiji and then another 5 days in New Zealand for our wedding/honeymoon getaway. We had the best time and would do it all over again in a heartbeat! The spirit of Fiji and the memories we made there will forever be in our hearts.
