You may recognise this couple from the pages of Bula Bride Magazine where their sweet little engagement shoot is featured.
Today we have their wedding, which is as equally sweet and gorgeous. Oh so perfect with white maids, groom in a hat, gorgeous bride and a pop of Bougenvillia. If your looking for a flower that makes a statement and is available all year round (other than the Ginger flower) Bougenvillia is it! So much love.
The Location / There are lots of reasons we chose our spot. 1) We both love sand, sea, sun, fun and adventure, 2) we wanted to get away and share a holiday with our loved ones, 3) we wanted somewhere different and tropical but affordable and kid friendly, and 4) somewhere that we hadn’t been before and could launch our honeymoon adventure from.
After lots of research we settled on Malolo Lailai, a little island in the middle of the South Pacific in Fiji. We chose Malolo Lailai because it had less hustle and bustle than the main island but still had a range of accommodation options to suit different guest’s budgets.
The Invites / The beautiful invites were a stand out! We had them designed like passports and boarding passes by Paper Bark Studio.
Each page of the passport revealed something about our relationship, the wedding, where to stay etc. We even had a little map of the island and itinerary for the wedding weekend of activities (e.g. welcome cocktail party, wedding day details and post wedding recovery party)
The Dress / I had my dress made by Fara Couture. I was trying to go for a vintage Hollywood glamour/ Marlin Monroe type look. It was beautiful but the sleeves broke on the day! If I could do it again I would have tried to get something more flowing and lightweight
The Ceremony / Because we wanted kids at the ceremony we had to have it half way between Lomani and Planation Island Resort.
We had the best celebrant – Kate from Inner Circle Ceremonies who performed the entire ceremony. We also had a local Fijian Reverend to make the wedding legal; his role was just to sign the papers. Because we opted for our own celebrant we were able to have a really intimate ceremony and we felt like our Kate told our story so well. It really was the highlight of the day. We also asked Digby’s mother to do a reading which made us all cry, it was beautiful.
Because our wedding party was small everyone stood around in a circle and we passed around our rings for each guest to bless, Kate organised this. Kate also helped us organise a wishing Lantern Ceremony.
