I have had my eye on this wedding for a very very long time. I knew from the first pic I saw on Instagram that it was perfectly divine. I had to wait a little while to bring it to you and finally here it is! The first Navutu Stars Resort Fiji Wedding, captured by destination wedding photographer Blue Robin Photography.
Daniel & Kylie met each other in London “I had traveled to London to live, travel and work. Dan and I met at a hospital (funnily enough, appropriately named The Heart Hospital) in London where we both worked together.” says Kylie.
What started as a friendship, blossomed into love with Dan then making the move to Australia to be with Kylie. Before moving back to Australia Dan popped the question to Kylie on a short break to New York. So adorable!
So a destination wedding for these travel lovers seemed to fit perfectly. The idea of a getaway with family was key to their decision.”We wanted to create a family getaway and so we planned a Fiji family getaway destination wedding that was as much a holiday for all of us as a wonderful intimate and ultra memorable occasion to get married.”
Kylie joins the blog to share more with us about their big day in the stunning Yasawa Islands.
The lead up to the wedding was a relaxing beach holiday in paradise for all of us. It was one big celebration really! The morning of the wedding, the girls had massages while the boys went snorkelling. It was the perfect beginning to our relaxed wedding day. A funny story though – I almost didn’t make it to my wedding day! The night before my wedding my future brother in law and I decided to set out in a canoe and ended up going for a swim instead. We capsized the canoe and then spent the next hour trying to get back in without any luck. It was funny at the time but as it got darker and we realised we couldn’t actually get ourselves back in we both started to worry. We were quite far out – too far to swim back. Luckily we ended up being spotted struggling by the staff of Navutu Stars Resort and they came to a rescue and picked us up in their speed boat much to our embarrassment. Trying to imitate Karate kid moves in a canoe before your wedding day is never a good idea!
I wore a dress from Fairytales Bridal Boutique, Melbourne called Essense of Australia. Ash from H&M Perfectionist was there to do my Hair & Makeup.
My flowers were a sweet bouquet of fresh island blooms. One of the staff named Dan at Navutu Stars Resort made the flower arrangements himself with locally picked flowers from the island. Even the little ribbons were made from plants too.
Directly following our ceremony, we decided to celebrate straight away with champagne and the cutting of our beautiful cake. The cakes was made for us by Navutu Stars Resort with fresh Island flowers on top. Our family no doubt continued drinking the champagne while we were off taking photos!
The Reception was a banquet on the beach. I did not have a lot of DIY details as our wedding was quite simple. I guess one DIY detail that we did do to help create a romantic atmosphere on the beach where our wedding banquet was held – we filled up 100 paper bags with sand and placed a tea light in each. We placed them around the dining table on the beach and our family created a candlelit path to our beach front bure (cottage). The tea lights really helped create a wow factor……..it was just so wonderfully romantic.
It’s hard to pick one single highlight of the day when the whole day was just so wonderfully perfect in every way. Being married in such a beautiful place surrounded by our very closest family to the man that I love most…..it really does not get much more perfect than that.
